# Billing & cancellation

Automaintainer charges a **platform fee** per plan. AI token costs are separate
and paid directly to your provider ([BYOK](/docs/byok-provider-keys)) — AM does
not mark up tokens.

## What you pay

- **Platform fee** — your [plan](/docs/plans-and-limits) (Free / Pro / Max /
  Enterprise), billed via the billing portal.
- **Provider tokens** — billed by your AI provider, on your own key. You control
  model choice and therefore cost.

## Manage your subscription

Use **Account → Billing** to upgrade, downgrade, or open the billing portal.

## Cancellation

When you cancel, the subscription typically stays active until the end of the
current period (cancel‑at‑period‑end). Until then the dashboard still shows your
paid plan and trial/period dates. At period end the account moves to Free, and
plan‑gated features (auto‑merge, autonomous explore, higher run limits) turn off
accordingly.

> If you cancelled but still see your paid plan, that's expected during the
> remaining paid period — it downgrades automatically when the period ends.
